A three-dimensional 3D image display device includes a display panel 20, including upper and lower substrates 22, 24, the lower substrate having a pixel array area overlapped with the upper substrate and a pad area formed on the lower substrate outside the pixel array area. The display panel displays left and right eye images and a patterned retarder 30 is attached to the display panel with retarder patterns to apply polarizations to light from the display panel corresponding to left and right eye images. A dimension Y in a first direction of the patterned retarder is greater than or substantially equal to a dimension in the first direction of the upper substrate, and less than a dimension Y in the first direction of the lower substrate such that a pad area at a side in the first direction is exposed. |
