<p>Electrode for electrochemical batteries consists of a porous metal support containing an electrochemically active material which can chemically attack the support. The porosity of the electrode is 25-35% for supports consisting of sintered metal powders, and 40-60% for supports consisting of metal powder agglomerated with an organic binder. The ratio of the total quantity of metal in combined form in the active material, to the quality of metal in the metallic state in the electrode is between 2/3 and 1. Esp. useful for the prodn. of cuprous chloride cells. The structure of the electrode is such that sufficient electrolyte is present to ensure, the rapid dissolution of the products of discharge during the subsequent charging operation without substantial polarisation occurring.</p> |
