Rolling mill control by differential signals - from laser light source

Mill roller crown controller functions in relation to the surface contour of roller strip. The contours at the centre and edge of the strip are optically detected to produce differential signals corresponding to the contours. The difference between the signals is amplified, and the signal produced is used to control the crown of the mill rolls, using the controller, and to reduce the signal to zero.
