<p>Splinter sphere is bored completely or to 50-70% so that after firing the bore or recess closes and produces a smaller splinter, though without loss of mass, thus increasing penetration and damage value. The axis of the bore in each case is at right angles to the shock wave to ensure that it closes on accelerating in the post-firing period. The bore can be stuffed with aluminium to absorb the deformation work.</p> |
