An accommodating intraocular lens, comprising: an anterior portion having an anterior viewing element; a posterior portion having a posterior viewing element, the viewing elements being positioned to move relative to each other in response to force on the intraocular lens, so as to alter the refractive power of the lens; wherein the anterior and posterior portions comprise a single piece of material. A method of making such a lens is also provided.
