<p>PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for collecting xenon based on an absorbing process are provided to prevent the dilution of collected xenon with nitrogen contained in an absorbent container and vacuum. CONSTITUTION: An absorbent container containing absorbent is prepared. The Xe/N_2 selectivity of the absorbent is lower than 65. Xenon-containing supplying gas is supplied into the absorbent container. In the xenon-containing supplying gas, the initial concentrations of nitrogen and xenon are respectively more than 50% and more than or equal to 0.05%. The absorbent container is exhausted by lowering the pressure of the absorbent container from the atmospheric pressure to sub-atmospheric pressures. First xenon-enriched gas is collected when the sub-atmospheric pressure of the absorbent container is reached to a P1 point. The absorbent container is purged when the sub-atmospheric pressure of the absorbent container is reached to a P2 point in order to collect second xenon-enriched gas. The first xenon-enriched gas is combined with the second xenon-enriched gas to obtain gas of high concentration of xenon.</p> |
