The present invention provides a lyconpene[epsilon]-cyclase protein which derivates from potato, a gene for coding the protein, a recombinant vector which comprises the gene, a host cell which transforms the recombinant vector, a recombinant vegetable RNAi vector which comprises the gene, a method for adding the content of vegetable [beta]-carotene through converting the recombinant vegetable RNAi vector, a plant and a seed thereof, wherein the plant converts the recombinant vegetable RNAi vector and has increased content of beta-carotene.
