PURPOSE: A method for diagnosing and controlling a shift range switch device for vehicles is provided to prevent driving attention dispersion by including a lever unit, a rotary unit, and a push unit and enlarging operational use range. CONSTITUTION: A lever unit(200) comprises a lever body shaft and a lever sensor unit. A lever body shaft is arranged in housing to be possible to rotate. A lever detection sensor senses signal transformation switched by lever circulation of the lever body shaft. A rotary unit(300) comprises a rotary switch including a rotary switch sensor unit. A controller is electrically connected to the lever unit, the rotary unit, and a push unit(400). A storing unit stores prior establishment detecting data in order to confirm a detecting state of the lever unit and the rotary unit.
