PURPOSE: A device and a method for diagnosing the state of a diesel engine in a power plant are provided to enable precise and accurate diagnosis of diesel engine condition using signals processed through a frequency band filter. CONSTITUTION: A device(100) for diagnosing the state of a diesel engine in a power plant comprises a sensor unit(110), a signal receiving and processing unit(120), a data display unit(130), and a database(140). The sensor unit senses the state of the interior and exterior of a diesel engine cylinder in a power plant using a pressure sensor(111), a vibration sensor(112), an ultrasonic sensor(113), a crank shaft speed sensor(114), a temperature sensor(115), and a lubricating oil abrasive particle sensor. The signal receiving and processing unit receives data through the sensor unit and coverts the received data into pressure value, vibration value, and ultrasonic wave value. The data display unit displays the value converted by signal processing on a graph as a result value of a cylinder analysis index. The database senses and diagnoses the condition of the engine by the transition analysis of the data.
