VALVE FOR MOTOR VEHICLE EXHAUST MUFFLER

PURPOSE: A valve for an exhaust silencer of a motor vehicle is provided to guarantee a relatively low noise level by being maintained closed when the flow rate of exhaust gas is low. CONSTITUTION: An exhaust valve comprises a support unit(12), a plug(16), and an elastic strip(26). The elastic strip comprises a first end(26A) and a second end(26B). The first end is fixed to the support unit. The second end is supported in the plug. The second end slides between a first and a second position on the plug. The plug comprises a stop(32) forming a hard spot. The elastic strip interacts with the second end of the elastic strip when the elastic strip is in the first position. The stop forms an obstacle which restricts the movement of the second end from the first to the second position of the elastic strip.
