摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of efficiently selecting a carbon fiber bundle useful for manufacturing an excellent prepreg substantially without any crack of fibers, and a method of manufacturing a prepreg using the carbon fiber bundle selected by the above-mentioned selecting method. <P>SOLUTION: A method of selecting a carbon fiber bundle comprises a step (1) of providing a carbon fiber bundle and a step (2) of pulling the carbon fiber bundle in the fiber direction at a tension of 5-20 N to fix it and bringing the carbon fiber bundle into contact with shock-applying means performing reciprocation at a vibration frequency of 10-15 Hz, for 5-10 seconds, or bringing the carbon fiber bundle into contact with vibration means vibrating at a vibration frequency of 10-15 Hz, for 5-10 seconds. In the method, after the step (2), the carbon fiber bundle is employed as reinforcing fibers for prepreg if a crack with a width of 1 mm or more and a length of 50 mm or more is not found between filament yarns of the carbon fiber bundle. And a method of manufacturing a prepreg comprises a step (I) of selecting a carbon fiber bundle according to the above-mentioned selecting method for the carbon fiber bundle, and a step (IIa) of opening the carbon fiber bundle selected in the step (I) to impregnate the opened carbon fibers with a resin composition including a cross-linkable resin to provide a prepreg, or a step (IIb) of opening the carbon fiber bundle selected in the step (I) to impregnate the opened carbon fibers with a polymerizable composition including cycloolefin monomer and a metathesis polymerization catalyst for performing massive polymerization on the polymerizable composition, thereby providing a prepreg. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
