Disclosed in the present invention are a load control method and a device therefor. The method comprises: an access network device obtains information on the type of a UE; the access network device decides the admission control mode for the UE according to the type information and to the load status; the access network device controls the access of the UE into the network according to said admission control mode. In the embodiments of the present invention, on the basis of UE type information, an access network device can adopt different processing modes for different types of terminals according to the network load, thereby controlling the impact on existing networks of MTC terminal access, with no significant rise in signal costs.
