The method involves inverting images for comparing the images accommodated before and after impact of a projectile. The images are superimposed, where an image processing system (7) detects and evaluates difference in brightness of superimposition of the images. Image noises are suppressed, and distance of a target (2) to lift gates and/or size of the target are detected. The detected image is processed as a black-white-image, and dispersion size is detected. Signals of an image processing device (5) e.g. digital video camera, are supplied to the processing system. An independent claim is also included for a device for evaluating a shot pattern on a target of a shooting ground.
