<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting unit capable of obtaining sufficient heat radiation efficiency to heating of an LED even having a small and thin-size shape and capable of maintaining excellent light-emitting characteristics for a long period, and a lighting system loading it on a lamp socket. <P>SOLUTION: The lighting unit has a light-emitting element mounted on one face of a substrate, a projection part which is a base part for supplying electric power to the light-emitting element from the outside and is arranged on the other face of the substrate, and houses and covers a lighting circuit with a size smaller than the outline size of the substrate, and electrode pins which are arranged on both sides of the projection part and supply power supply from the outside to the lighting circuit.
