Disclosed in the present invention are a key management method and system for a routing protocol, wherein the method includes: Internet Key Exchange protocol version 2 (IKEv2) is extended; the extended IKEv2 is used for negotiating and generating the Security Association (SA) for the routing protocol; the generated SA is used for performing key management for the routing protocol and performing protection for the transmission of the routing message based on the routing protocol. The present invention resolves the problem of low efficiency and low correctness caused by the method in the prior art for negotiating the SA for the routing protocol, and achieves the effect that the transmission of the routing message is safer and more reliable.
