<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide high strength briquette of slaked lime and calcium carbide using the same as a raw material. <P>SOLUTION: The particle size of slaked lime briquette is 30 to 150 mm, its moisture content is 3 to 15%, and its calcium carbonate rate is 10 mol% or over. Quicklime briquette is formed by calcinating slaked lime briquette. A method of manufacturing calcium carbide includes using the quicklime briquette as a calcium raw material.
