PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal transfer ribbon that can improve transparency and glossiness of a hologram to improve image clarity.

SOLUTION: The thermal transfer ribbon 1 includes, on a base material film 2: a hologram-forming layer 4 on which at least an optical diffraction structure is formed; and a reflecting layer 5 having an optical interface formed by a deposited transparent metal compound. The thickness of the base material film 2 falls in a range of 1-10 μm.
