HOUSING FOR STORING WAVEGUIDE TYPE OPTICAL ELEMENT AND OPTICAL COMPONENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a housing capable of storing a waveguide type optical element while suppressing deterioration of optical characteristics due to thermal stress and a mechanical external force.

SOLUTION: A housing 200 includes: a bottom section 201; first to fourth side sections 202A-202D provided at four sides of the bottom section 201; and a first retaining member 203A and a second retaining member 203B fixed to the first side section 202A and the second side section 202B facing the first side section 202A respectively. The first retaining member 203A includes a groove section 203A' fitted with a second waveguide type optical element 212 disposed parallel to the bottom section 201. The same is applied to the second retaining member 203B. The second retaining member 203B is fixed in a recess 203B' provided in the second side section 202B. In this case, adhesion fixing by adhesive or weld fixing can be employed.
