<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus forming images with reduced unevenness. <P>SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus includes: an image retaining body 11Y formed with a toner image on a peripheral face and moving while retaining the toner image; an application unit 18Y formed on the peripheral face of the image retaining body for applying a release agent promoting peeling of the toner image; a photodetector 17Y emitting light of a light-absorbing band of the release agent towards the peripheral face and detecting the light from the peripheral face; an amount-of-release-agent measuring unit for measuring the application amount of the release agent applied to the peripheral face of the image retaining body based on the light absorption amount obtained by the detection by the photodetector; and an application control unit controlling the application unit to apply more release agent to a region whose application amount measured is less out of the peripheral face of the image retaining body. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
