The patient transport system (16) has a patient support unit (34) that is resiliently supported by a working bearing system (32). Actuating force is exerted in vertical direction, by using an actuator (52). The acceleration values of the patient support unit are detected by a detection unit. The actuator is controlled by a control unit (58) based on the detected acceleration values of patient support unit, such that minimized actuator force is exerted.
