Provided is a telephone exchange system that can count the number of incoming calls, which indicates a history of incoming calls for each of a plurality of telephone terminals, regardless of conditions, such as busy line, off-the-hook, failure and the like, and that, upon arrival of an incoming call for the telephone terminal, further can display, on the telephone terminal, the history of incoming calls from the calling party before transmitting a call-up signal to the telephone terminal. A telephone incoming call control unit (21B) of a communication apparatus (B) (20B) counts, as incoming call history data (22B) of each of a plurality of slave telephone terminals (B) (30B), the number of total incoming calls and the number of incoming calls of each of a plurality of communication types indicating the breakdown of incoming call operations. When an incoming call arrives from a calling party for the telephone terminal (B) (30B), the telephone incoming call control unit (21B) searches the incoming call history data (22B) of the telephone terminal (B) (30B) and extracts therefrom the incoming call history data of incoming call arrivals at the telephone terminal from the calling party prior to an operation of transmitting a call-up signal to the telephone terminal. If the telephone terminal is currently unused, then the telephone incoming call control unit (21B) transmits the extracted incoming call history data to the telephone terminal, thereby causing a display unit (31B) of the telephone terminal to display the extracted incoming call history data.
