<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize smooth traveling of a vehicle group even if any vehicle departs from the group with a slowdown due to turning right or left. <P>SOLUTION: A departing position determining unit 64 of each of vehicles 60A and 60B determines the departing positions of the vehicles 60A and 60B, and the positions are transmitted to a vehicle group travel control device 10 via a roadside unit 50; next, a computer 14 of the vehicle group travel control device 10 sets, on the basis of the departing position of each vehicle, an appropriate inter-vehicle distance between the departing vehicle and the immediately following vehicle greater than the usual inter-vehicle distance, and transmits inter-vehicle distance information indicating the appropriate inter-vehicle distance so set; a speed calculating unit 66 of each of the vehicles 60A and 60B acquires the inter-vehicle distance information and calculates such a speed as enables the appropriate inter-vehicle distance to be maintained. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
