<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flame monitoring device of a burner, capable of prolonging the service life of an ultraviolet ray discharge tube. <P>SOLUTION: The flame monitoring device 100 detects and monitors flame of the burner combusting fuel with flame, which contains the compound containing hydrogen as a component. The flame monitoring device includes the ultraviolet ray discharge tube 10 with an anode 3, a cathode 5 and gas 7 enclosed in a sealed container 1 which transmits at least ultraviolet rays, a voltage applicator intermittently applying voltage between the anode 3 and the cathode 5, and a condition determining section 40 determining the condition of flame. The voltage applicator includes, for instance, a DC power supply 20, a high-frequency oscillating circuit 31 and a low-frequency oscillating circuit 33. The voltage applicator sets an applying cycle of the voltage at T1 when the condition determining section 40 determines the flame condition to be in an unstable condition and sets the applying cycle of the voltage at T2 which is longer than T1 when the condition determining section 40 determines the flame condition to be in a stable condition. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
