摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a liquid crystal display device having good display quality. <P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display device comprises: separately preparing a first substrate having a pixel electrode and a first vertical alignment layer formed on the surface of the pixel electrode, and a second substrate having a counter electrode and a second vertical alignment layer formed on the surface of the counter electrode; laminating the first substrate and the second substrate with a sealing material, in such a state that the first vertical alignment layer of the first substrate faces the second vertical alignment layer of the second substrate; and holding a liquid crystal layer between the first substrate and the second substrate. In the method, the first vertical alignment layer and the second vertical alignment layer are formed by selecting an alignment layer material showing a rubbing pretilt angle of 87 degrees or more. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
