<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling device which sufficiently increases cooling efficiency of a radiator when the heat value of a heating element increases temporarily. <P>SOLUTION: A cooling device 10 cooling a heating element 2 has a radiator 20 exchanging heat with a coolant 14 flowing in a coolant passage 12, a lid 40 covering the coolant passage 12, and a support mechanism 30 supporting the radiator 20 movably relative to the lid 40. The support mechanism 30 has a driving body 36 composed of a phase change material which melts and expands when heated to a predetermined temperature or a shape memory material which recovers the shape when heated to a predetermined temperature. The driving body 36 provides the cooling device 10 which moves the radiator 20 relative to the lid 40 by utilizing the expansion caused by melting of the phase change material or the shape recovery of the shape memory material so that the cross section area of the coolant passage 12 becomes small. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
