A variable capacity turbine comprising: a fluid space which is formed by a nozzle mount and a nozzle plate; and a plurality of nozzle vanes (27) which are arranged at intervals in the circumferential direction so as to divide the fluid space and are rotatably supported by shafts on the nozzle mount, it being possible to adjust the flow rate of outflow fluid by opening or closing fluid passages formed by the nozzle vanes (27) which are adjacent so as to vary the cross-sectional areas of the fluid passages. The nozzle plate is provided with plate protrusions (41), which protrude from the nozzle plate toward the nozzle vanes (27) such that the plate protrusions (41) protrude further than at least the end surface positions of the nozzle vanes (27), so as to cover gaps formed between the front edges (40) of the nozzle vanes (27) and the rear edges (42) of the adjacent nozzle vanes (27) when the nozzle vanes (27) are in closed positions.
