摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tuning fork type piezoelectric vibrator of a surface mounting package structure which allows of a precise frequency adjustment while implementing a compact and thin design and an improved resistance to drop and other shocks. <P>SOLUTION: The tuning fork type piezoelectric vibrator includes a package comprising a box-shaped base part 10 of an insulating material in which a tuning fork type quartz vibrating reed 12 is cantilevered at a base end 12a mounted on electrode pads 16 on a mounting surface by means of a conductive adhesive 17, and a transparent thin lid part 11. The mounting surface of the base part has a recess 18 formed in a portion adjacent to free ends 12b of vibrating arms of the quartz vibrating reed. The vibrating arms have metallic weight portions at the free ends, and when a laser beam radiated through the lid part after the package is sealed melts away the metallic weight portions to adjust the frequency of the piezoelectric vibrating reed, much of the metal spatter adheres to the recess in the mounting surface. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
