<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that there is no proper metric for effectively reducing instantaneous peak power when digital-modulating a single carrier, and that degradation of power addition efficiency cannot be avoided when the transmission signal of large PAR value is power-amplified, and further that occurrence of non-linear distortion is hard to be compatible with reduction in power consumption, whereas a decoding method is desired which improves error characteristic by utilizing the symbol modulation characteristic intrinsic to trellis shaping. <P>SOLUTION: In order to suppress instantaneous peak power, a partial waveform is obtained from consecutive I signal and Q signal at a waveform shaping filter output point. The partial waveform is determined by considering a plurality of consecutive symbols. A metric value is supplied based on a difference between the partial waveform and a limiter threshold value, and a transmission symbol that corresponds to the path on which the metric is minimum is determined. An iterative decoding method is provided which assumes the trellis shaping as Markov process and utilizes a soft determination decoding process based on a novel trellis. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
