<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a portable terminal device capable of performing the suitable setting at a required timing after performing non-contact communication with an external device. <P>SOLUTION: A CPU 1 starts a search operation for detecting whether or not the portable terminal device is under a specific situation only when an entrance process is performed depending on non-contact communication between an external device 20 with an IC reader/writer and a non-contact IC card processor 11 at the entrance into a specific facility.
