The strut (1) has a shock absorber (1.1) with a cylinder (4) for supporting at a chassis component, and a piston rod (5) moved in the cylinder for supporting at another chassis component that is moved in relation to the former component. A coaxial spring (7) e.g. screws spring and air-spring, is supported between the components. A stop buffer (9) limits spring movement of the absorber to increase a spring rate of the strut upto full compression. A stop ring (10) made of plastic or metal is arranged at the stop buffer, and has stiffening elements e.g. steel insert (12) and spiral insert.
