<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a secondary battery at low cost. <P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a secondary battery having electrodes provided with electrode active materials, comprises a step of providing a mixture containing a fluorine compound comprising an alkali metal and fluorine and a metal comprising a trivalent metallic element for a conductor, and a reaction step of forming an electrode active material represented by AMF<SB POS="POST">3</SB>where A represents the alkali metal and M represents the metallic element by reaction between the metal and the fluorine compound while bringing the mixture into contact with an electrolyte and supplying power to the conductor.
