<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect an expression of an ADAM8 protein encoded by an amplified gene, based on identification of an ADAM8 gene that is amplified in the genome of tumor cells, as such gene amplification is associated with the overexpression of the gene product compared to normal cells of the same tissue type and contributes to tumorigenesis. <P>SOLUTION: An in-vitro detection method of neoplastic disease is provided, including (a) detecting an expression of ADAM8 polypeptide in a test sample in-vitro, and (b) comparing the expression level of the test sample to a control sample. In the method, a higher expression level of polypeptide in the test sample compared to the control sample indicates the presence of tumor in the mammal from which the test sample is obtained. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
