<p>In an embodiment an architecture includes a target system and host system respectively configured to provide a recurrent target-side communication loop and a recurrent host-side communication loop. The target communication loop provides timing control for synchronizing host-side embedded simulation operations with target-side embedded system simulation operations. The host system also includes a graphical programming environment that provides graphical blocks, including a set of graphical blocks corresponding to target system add-on devices. During simulation operations, target - host communication, including communication corresponding to signals associated with target system add-on devices, occurs by way of sequenced execution of the recurrent target-side communication loop and the recurrent host-side communication loop. The target system also includes a bootloader configured to selectively initiate the execution of a particular modular program selected from a plurality of modular programs in response to user input received by way of a selection module. Each modular program corresponds to an independently executable embedded application. The bootloader can map a selection signal value to a starting address of a particular modular program by way of a configuration table, and transfer target system execution control to the particular modular program during target system bootload operations.</p> |
