<p>The present invention pertains to a receiving device, receiving method, and program, wherein it is possible to control the operation of an external device connected to the receiving device by working in conjunction with the progression of AV content. A trigger extraction unit extracts trigger information which is sent along with AV content and which pertains to the control of an application program to be executed by the receiving device or an external device connected to the receiving device by working in conjunction with the AV content. When a command indicating the extracted trigger information is addressed to the receiving device, a main body control unit controls the operation of the application program in association with the command indicating the trigger information. When the command indicating the extracted trigger device is addressed to an external device, an external device processing unit transfers the command indicating the trigger information to the external device. The present technique may be applied to a digital broadcast receiving devices for receiving digital television broadcasting signals.</p> |
