Dust-free, granulated mineral fertilisers are produced by applying to the granulate a dust-inhibiting, water-sol. layer in the liquid state to form a closed film around the granules. The process is simple, rapid and cheap, and ensures complete covering of the granules. the dust-inhibiting layer is advantageously of a synthetic or natural resin and is suitably applied to the granules (advantageously after coating with an inert substance to form a buffer layer and/or with surfactants) in a powder drum or by spraying. The coating compsn can be varied to control the rate of soln of the granulate in the soil. |
