<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a terahertz wave generating element including an electro-optic crystal with improved symmetry of an electric field distribution in a beam cross-section of a generated terahertz wave. <P>SOLUTION: The terahertz wave generating element includes: a plurality of waveguides 13 including an electro-optic crystal, through which light beams 11 and 11' are propagated; and an optical coupling member 14 which takes out terahertz waves 12 generated from the light beams propagated through the waveguides. The plurality of waveguides 13 are disposed so as to be approximately rotationally symmetrical with respect to a prescribed axis 15, and further, the optical coupling member is disposed so that wave fronts of the terahertz waves 12 generated from the plurality of waveguides coincide with each other approximately. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
