<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL device with higher light extraction efficiency and improved viewing angle dependency of luminance and color change, and a lighting apparatus including the organic EL device. <P>SOLUTION: An organic EL device comprises an organic EL element and a light diffusion element disposed on a light emission surface side of the organic EL element. The light diffusion element includes a matrix including a resin component and a superfine particle component, and light diffusion fine particles diffused in the matrix. The resin component, the superfine particle component, and the light diffusion fine particles have the refractive indices satisfying the following formula (1): ¾n<SB POS="POST">P</SB>-n<SB POS="POST">A</SB>¾<¾n<SB POS="POST">P</SB>-n<SB POS="POST">B</SB>¾, where n<SB POS="POST">A</SB>represents the refractive index of the resin component of the matrix, n<SB POS="POST">B</SB>represents the refractive index of the superfine particle component of the matrix, and n<SB POS="POST">P</SB>represents the refractive index of the light diffusion fine particle. Outside the vicinity of a surface of the light diffusion fine particle, a concentration varying region is formed in which the weight concentration of the resin component decreases and the weight concentration of the superfine particle component increases as separating away from the light diffusion fine particles. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
