<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mold powder for the continuous casting of steel, which has both high viscosity and high basicity and which can cool a cast steel piece slowly while keeping lubricity inside a mold. <P>SOLUTION: The invention relates to the mold powder for the continuous casting of steel, which has a CaO/SiO<SB POS="POST">2</SB>mass ratio of 1.1-1.5 and contains 10-25 mass% Al<SB POS="POST">2</SB>O<SB POS="POST">3</SB>, 12-20 mass% Na<SB POS="POST">2</SB>O, and 1-15 mass% total carbon. The mold powder has a viscosity of 0.1-1.0 Pa s at the temperature of 1,300°C, and its crystallization temperature is 900-1,240°C. When the powder is melted and cooled, a crystal mainly composed of Na<SB POS="POST">2</SB>O, Al<SB POS="POST">2</SB>O<SB POS="POST">3</SB>and SiO<SB POS="POST">2</SB>is produced. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
