The invention relates to a heat-resistant TiAl alloy (and the production thereof), which in addition to unavoidable impurities comprises titanium, al, niobium, molybdenum, and carbon as alloying elements. The composition is selected in such a way that the carbon is dissolved into the mixed crystals of the alloy so as to substantially avoid carbide precipitations and the alloy is solidified from the melt exclusively by means of the ß-phase and/or ?-phase.
