The method involves detecting effective acceleration of the rotary wheel along radial direction using acceleration sensor. The radial distance of acceleration sensor to the wheel midpoint is determined based on determined acceleration of wheel and rotation speed of wheel. The diameter of the wheel is determined from the radial distance of acceleration sensor.
