<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a load driving device capable of protecting a circuit having a plurality of semiconductor switches connected in parallel to control driving and stopping of a load, by immediately shutting off the semiconductor switches when an over-current is generated during an off-operation period of each semiconductor switch. <P>SOLUTION: A load driving device comprises a current sensor 17 for detecting a current flowing in an FET(T1) even during an off-operation period of the FET(T1). When a current Id detected by the sensor 17 exceeds a predetermined threshold current Ith, a shut-down circuit 16 reduces a gate voltage for the FET(T1). Accordingly, even when the off-operation period of the FET(T1) is set longer and a short-circuit occurs during the off-operation period, the FET(T1) is immediately shut off to protect an entire load circuit from an over-current. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
