<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator with a trunk allowing a maintenance and inspection operation of devices above a car with a stable posture without increasing the total length of a hoistway or without requiring a complicated device. <P>SOLUTION: The elevator is provided with a trunk 2 at a rear part of a car 1.
