<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method by which an n-type skutterudite-based Yb-Co-Sb thermoelectric conversion material of high density and high thermoelectric conversion performance is obtained at an inexpensive manufacturing cost. <P>SOLUTION: By cooling down raw material containing at least one type of CoSb and CoSb<SB POS="POST">2</SB>after it is heated and melted at a temperature range of peritectic reaction temperature or higher and liquidus temperature or less, an n-type Yb-Co-Sb-based thermoelectric conversion material having a skutterudite structure, which satisfies the following constitutions (a) to (c), is obtained without grinding: (a) density is 7.4 g/cm<SP POS="POST">3</SP>or higher; (b) dimensionless performance index ZT indicating thermoelectric conversion performance (Z: performance index, T: absolute temperature) is 0.6 or higher; and (c) content x of Yb is 0<x≤1, content y of Co is 3.5≤y≤4.5, and content z of Sb is 10≤z≤15. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
