PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating a cancer patient.
SOLUTION: The method includes processes of administering an effective amount of a vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) trap antagonist to the patient. To be more specific, the method includes (a) a process for administering to the patient at least 0.3 mg/kg of the VEGF antagonist as an initial dose; and (b) a process for administering to the patient two or more continuance doses of the VEGF antagonist in an amount almost equal to, or less than, the initial dose. The continuance doses have an interval of at least one day between the administrations. The method is useful for the treatment of a human cancer to be selected from a group of renal cell carcinoma, pancreas carcinoma, breast cancer, prostatic cancer, colorectal cancer, malignant mesothelioma, multiple myeloma, ovarian cancer, and melanoma. Moreover, the method is useful also for the treatment of a condition that may benefit from a reduction of the VEGFA and a placenta growth factor (PLGF).
COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
