GAME MACHINE, MAIN CONTROL BOARD, PERIPHERAL BOARD, AND METHOD AND PROGRAM FOR AUTHENTICATING THE GAME MACHINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To impart versatility to authentication information without using complex operations by making it difficult to illicitly analyze the authentication information and to reduce the processing burden on the CPU of a peripheral unit.

SOLUTION: When a generation method for authentication data used for the next authentication of a main control unit is randomly determined from two kinds of generation methods, the main control unit generates authentication data of the previously determined generation method based on an inspection value associated with the next generation method and on another value. The main control unit generates authentication information having the authentication data and sends the authentication information to a relay unit. When receiving the authentication information, the relay unit determines using an expectation value whether the generation method for the authentication data of the authentication information matches the current generation method, generates intermediate authentication result data indicating the result of authentication of the main control unit based on the result of the determination, and sends the intermediate authentication result data to the peripheral unit. Based on the intermediate authentication result data received from the relay unit, the peripheral unit performs a predetermined processing on a game machine based on a control command received from the main control unit.
