A RECHARGEABLE NICKEL ION BATTERY

The present invitation discloses a rechargeable nickel ion battery, in which anodic nickel will be electrochemically dissolved as Ni2+ ions, diffuses to the cathodic electrode/electrolyte interface through the electrolyte, and nickel ions subsequently intercalate into manganese oxide during discharging. In charging, above-mentioned process will be reverse. The rechargeable nickel ion battery comprises a cathode formed from a compressed mixture of manganese oxide particles, electrically conductive particles and a binder; a nickel anode separated from cathode; an aqueous electrolyte contains nickel ions.
