A method for controlling the aspect ratio of a manganese oxide nanostructure is provided to obtain a manganese oxide nanostructure having an optimized size and physical properties applicable to various industrial fields including cathode materials for secondary batteries, redox catalysts and nanobio-materials. A method for controlling the aspect ratio of a manganese oxide nanostructure comprises, during the preparation of the manganese oxide nanostructure including reacting a composite lithium-manganese-metal oxide in an oxidant solution containing S2O8^2- ions, adjusting x value of the manganese oxide represented by the formula of LiMn2-xAxO4, wherein A is selected from the group consisting of Cr, Ni, Co and Fe. The aspect ratio is 5-30.
