PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a corneal implant whose shape can be reversibly deformed and that can pass through a corneal incision, which is equal to or smaller than half the size of the implant.
SOLUTION: The corneal implant 50 is replaced with part of an anterior layer of a corneal, wherein a central optical element 52 protrudes forward from a limb 54. Preferably, the central optical element protrudes forward from the limb by 1-600 mm. More preferably, the central optical element protrudes forward from the limb by 50-400 mm. The central optical element 52 replaces a removed morbidity forward corneal tissue. The limb 54 is designed to partially or entirely surround the center of the optical element and to fit into a hollow around a corneal pocket so as to securely fix the corneal implant to the corneal.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
