PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To take an image with which a user feels as if a virtual object exists in a real space.

SOLUTION: When a marker existing in a real space is imaged with an outer camera, an image obtained by imaging plural virtual characters with a virtual camera is superimposed on an actual image obtained by imaging the real space and then displayed on an upper LCD. The virtual characters are positioned in a marker coordinate system with the marker being a reference, and the position and attitude of each virtual character change according to a button operation on a game device by a user. When the user performs a button operation for indicating an imaging instruction, the displayed image is saved in storage means.
