摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce RRO of a magnetically-transferred recording medium to less than 60 nm while keeping close contact between a master carrier and a slave medium, in a master assembly. <P>SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a master assembly 1 wherein a textured pattern and a slave medium 40 are placed in close contact with each other and magnetic transfer is performed. In said method, a base member 2 and a cushion member 27a are prepared. One surface of said cushion member 27a is bonded to the base member 2 and another surface of the cushion member 27a, which is to be bonded to a master carrier 30a, has a surface shape that satisfies formulas (1) through (3).
